Raiders 2 57 - 46 Force

The Raiders second team continued in the spirit of the third team, coming out 57-46 victors over a strong Force team. The victory marked a turnaround from the last game of the previous season, where the team suffered a loss against the Force second team. Raiders will hope that they can carry their form through to next weekend, where all three teams face off against the various Aces teams.

Raiders 3 38 - 31 Mallards

The Raiders third team continued their strong start to the season with a 38 - 31 victory over Mallards, and now have a 2-1 (2 win, 1 loss) record for the season.

Harriers 20 - 46 Raiders 3

The Raiders third team bounced back from their first loss to record a convincing win against the Hampshire Harriers in what was only their second league game. Strong performances all around by the team ensured that their record improve to 1 win and 1 loss after 2 games played. Congratulations to the team!

Outlaws 57 - 46 Raiders

Raiders suffered a tough loss to local rivals Essex Outlaws in the first Super League match of the season. Raiders trailed by 14 points at half time, following a strong start by Outlaws, and never quite recovered, despite a spirited fightback. Raiders cut the lead to as little as 5 points in the 4th quarter, with less than 2 minutes remaining, but some key baskets late on by Outlaws players Hadj Lahmar and David Robertson stopped the Raiders momentum, and Outlaws held on for victory.

Raiders 2 77 - 17 Sparrows

Raiders 2 returned to their winning ways with a resounding defeat of local rivals Sparrows.

Bears 2 defeat Raiders 3

The Raiders third team lost their opening game with a tough loss to the Warwickshire Bears second team, after seeing the Raiders second team come short against the Bears first team.

Bears 1 39 - 35 Raiders 2

The Raiders second team suffered their first loss of the season with a loss to the Warwickshire Bears. After a sluggish start, Raiders 2 trailed 20 - 3 at the end of the first quarter, and faced an uphill battle to get a foothold in the game. Despite a turnaround later in the game, and chances to close the gap late on, the team were made to pay for their initial struggles, losing by 4 points.

Tigers 15 - 65 Raiders 2

The Raiders second team started their first division campaign in a commanding fashion, defeating the Tigers by 50 points. The result promises well for the team who hope to continue their momentum from their last two seasons, and continue to rise up the GBWBA league.

Raiders announces teams for 2009/10 season

Raiders has announced its rosters for its teams for the 2009/2010 season, including the introduction of a new third team to play in the GBWBA third division. After another successful season in 2008/9, the second team will be playing in the first division, whilst the first team will be looking to secure a top four finish to qualify for Europe, which it narrowly missed out on last year.

Raiders Wheelchair Basketball Team Secures Sponsorship

Raiders Wheelchair Basketball team from Tower Hamlets have secured a second year sponsorship deal with a leading not-for-profit leisure trust and sports foundation.

Not-for-profit leisure operator GLL in association with the GLL Sport Foundation, has agreed to provide a further 12 months of financial and practical support to the team, including providing free access to sporting and leisure facilities across London.

Raiders win gold at 6th Algarve Open Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

The Raiders team brought back gold after travelling out to Tavira, Portugal to contest the sixth annual Algarve Open Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. The squad of 11 beat the Portugese National team to secure a first place finish in a hotly contested final.

The Algarve Open had six teams competing this year, namely:
Portugal 1 & 2 (Two halves of the Portugese National Team)
APD Sintra, the reigning Portugese league champions
ParaSport, the local host team
Munster Mavericks
London Raiders

Raiders 2 finish with Playoff bronze

Raiders 2 finished their successful season with a third place finish at the GBWBA Second Division Playoffs. Weakened by some absences from the squad, Raiders' junior players stepped up and played magnificently to help Raiders secure a win against 2nd division south runners up Tornados after losing to the 2nd division north runners up, Lothian, the previous day. Congratulations to all the players on another successful season.

Bears 2 concede to Raiders 2

Due to the Bears 2 team being unable to field a team for the game on Easter Sunday (12th April), a victory is awarded to Raiders 2, meaning that the team finish the season with a 11-1 record, and as Second Division South Champions! Raiders 2 will be competing for the second division championship (the overall winners) during the weekend of the 16th May, and as a result of their first place finish, will be promoted to the first division next season.

Force 2 defeat Raiders 2

Raiders 2 suffer their first loss of the season in a physical encounter in Stanmore.

MK Aces 64 - 26 Raiders

In their last game of the season, Raiders suffered a heavy lost against playoff bound Aces, but will still finish in an admirable 5th place in the super league. Raiders will be keen to build on their successes from this season, which has seen them beat every team below them in the league table, and the second team has built on their successes from last season, and will be aiming to break into the top four and the European places in 2009/2010.

Bucks Aces 39 - 52 Raiders 2

Raiders maintained their 100% record with another hard fought win against the Bucks Aces in an early tip off. Their record now stands at 10-0 and means that they have clinched the second division south title, as well as promotion to the first division

Raiders 2 64 - 44 Tornados

The Raiders second team continued their winning ways this season with another convincing victory over Tornados. Jaspal Dhani stepped in as coach for his first win with the second team this season, standing in for Paul Pierson. The second team now have three games remaining in the season before the league playoffs, where the team will hope to make a strong stand.

Bears 2 32 - 69 Raiders 2

The Raiders second team capped a successful weekend for the Raiders with a resounding victory over the Warwickshire Bears second team, to remain unbeaten and on track to top the second division south. After a slow start, the Raiders team, buoyed by the first teams resounding victory the day before, pulled ahead to claim yet another win.

Eagles 26 - 73 Raiders

Raiders cemented their status as the fifth best team in the country with a display that echoed a welcomed return to form. Despite only winning the corresponding fixture against Eagles by 6 points earlier in the year, Raiders started the game with a different, fast paced first unit to try and out hustle the Newcastle based team. It worked, as Raiders rallied to an early lead, and never looked back, securing their largest winning margin of the season, in 47 points.

Raiders 40 - 82 Steelers

The Raiders team lost out on a chance to make the playoffs and finish in 4th place after a heavy defeat to playoff-bound Sheffield. After finishing the 1st quarter leading by a single point 12-11, Sheffield pulled out to a 12 point lead at half time, then pulled away during the third quarter, lead by Colin Price.

Raiders 57 - 51 Eagles

Raiders once again held their nerve to fight off a spirited Eagles team to notch up a third consecutive win. The victory meant that Raiders are now 3-1 in 2009, and with a fifth Super League victory, they move one game off 0.500.

Raiders 2 41 - 34 Outlaws 2

In the second of a double header, the Raiders second team ensured that they kept their unbeaten record for the season, securing a closely fought win against a spirited Essex Outlaws second team.

Raiders 42 - 32 Outlaws

Raiders secured their second consecutive win today, completing the double over a talented Essex Outlaws side. Trailing by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, Raiders once again showed their ability to lock down teams when it counts, prompting a 20 point turnaround to take the victory.

Vikings 38 - 41 Raiders

Raiders escaped with a narrow, 3 point victory against Vikings in a nailbiting finish to the match in St Helens. Down by 8 points at the early stages of the fourth quarter, Raiders tightened up their defence and stopped Vikings from scoring for the rest of the game, and important plays down the stretch from the Weeks brothers ensured a tough fought victory.

Raiders 27 - 71 Rhinos

In the first game of 2009, a Raiders team, struggling with illness and injuries, suffered a heavy loss to a strong Wolverhampton side. Shooting woes meant that despite a spirited performance, Raiders could not get themselves into the game, as a polished Rhinos side capitolised.

Raiders 2 52 - 39 Force 2

A tired Raiders 2 side struggled to put away an energetic Force side in the second of the two matches played on the 7th of December. The victory means that Raiders finish 2008 undefeated for the season, and having lost only once, (in the league cup final, to the Wolverhampton Rhinos), all year.

Raiders 38 - 66 Owls

The first game for the Raiders teams, played on the 7th of December ended in another defeat for the Raiders, defeated by an Owls team who sit on top of the Premier league.

Raiders 2 67 - 19 Bucks Aces

In the second game of the double header against the Aces teams, the Raiders second team recorded a comprehensive victory to remain undefeated for the season.

Raiders 38 - 64 MK Aces

The game on the 23rd of November ended in a defeat for the Raiders in a match where Raiders remained close for much of the game, before Aces pulled away for the win

Tornados 43 - 45 Raiders 2

In a tight battle Raiders 2 hang on for victory after two late free throws in the last 30 seconds from Chris Weeks are enough to defeat a tough Tornados side.

Raiders and GLL team up to boost London Wheelchair Basketball

A sponsorship deal between the Raiders Wheelchair Basketball Club, social enterprise GLL and the GLL Sport Foundation has been signed to help develop the sport within London.

The Raiders are the leading Wheelchair Basketball team in the Capital, having been promoted to the elite National Super League. The Raiders also have a second team in National League 2 and as part of this sponsorship deal will launch a new initiative to get more young people and women players to participate in the sport.

Otters 29 - 55 Raiders 2

Raiders 2 began their first season in the 2nd division in impressive fashion, overpowering an experienced Devon Otters side for a 55 - 29 victory.

Raiders win Menghi Mulchandani Trophy

Raiders went 5-0 in a pre-season tournament to win the inaugural Menghi Mulchandani Trophy. After winning all their matches in the run-up to the final, Raiders met a tough Essex Outlaws side in a battle for the trophy.

The match was a memorable one, with Outlaws coming back from 6 points down with under a minute to go of the final quarter to force the game into overtime after a four point play and last second reverse layup. However, Raiders were determined not to let the efforts of the day go to waste, and after some tough defense and solid offence in the overtime period, emerged victorious.

Raiders would like to thank Menghi's family for all of their contributions to a wonderful tournament, and will hope to return to defend their crown next year.

Raiders to host pre-season tournament

Raiders are to host a pre-season tournament in Kensington on Saturday 23rd August 2008. The tournament will see the following four top teams from the GBWBA's National league competing for the inaugural Menghi Mulchandani Trophy.

The tournament will be held at Raiders' home venue: Kensington Leisure Centre. The first game tip off at 10am, with the Final on the same day, tipping off at 6pm.
