Raiders Wheelchair Basketball Team Secures Sponsorship
Raiders Wheelchair Basketball team from Tower Hamlets have secured a second year sponsorship deal with a leading not-for-profit leisure trust and sports foundation.
Not-for-profit leisure operator GLL in association with the GLL Sport Foundation, has agreed to provide a further 12 months of financial and practical support to the team, including providing free access to sporting and leisure facilities across London.
The sponsorship package will also enable Raiders to continue its ‘club plan,’ which includes the launch of a junior team and thanks to a surge in membership, the launch of Raiders 3, a new third division wheelchair basketball team.
Jaspal Dhani, team manager and head coach for Raiders said, “The support we have received from the GLL Sport Foundation has a huge impact on the club. Last year we were able to purchase three new chairs, while also benefiting from improved access to the facilities at Mile End Park Leisure Centre.
“This year the continued sponsorship will enable us to focus on the development of our junior team and will enable us to provide additional training and equipment to our members.”
Peter Bundey, GLL Sport Foundation Chair added, “We are delighted to be the Raider’s main sponsors for a second year. The club is a fantastic example of how elite sport can offer inspiration to grass roots players, offer coaching excellence and promote the thrills and opportunities that Paralympic sport offers”.
Currently Raiders Wheelchair Basketball first team is in the national premier league, while the club’s second team was recently promoted to division one. The most successful wheelchair basketball club in London, players train and compete at Mile End Leisure Centre, which is managed by GLL on behalf of Tower Hamlet’s Council.
